Medicinal plants with mosquitoes repellent activity: a systematic review

Repellents are important allies in trying to prevent diseases transmitted by mosquito bites. Plants have been a source of various repellents and insecticides because they large reservoir bioactive substances, addition, their products already tested gaining space research as low-cost easy-access alternative. A systematic review was carried out the databases, Science Direct, Scielo, SciFinder, Springer, PubMed / Medline, Scopus Web Science, evaluated three reviewers. Titles, abstracts articles were analyzed full English, Spanish Portuguese. To identify articles, following descriptors from Medical Subject Headings (MeSH) used: “insect repellents”, “essential oils”, “plants extract”, “repellent activity”, mosquitoes plants. The bibliographic search resulted 2274 records. Of these, 27 considered potentially relevant, at end selection, 17 included entirety. It found that medicinal plants showed repellent activity against species mosquitoes, however due little standardization methodologies used obtained it is necessary develop standardized methods guarantee quality reproducibility clinical trials with
